Our German Shepherd has developed an eye condition which requires regular drops and limited exposure to sunshine unless we want to risk her going blind. Our vet recommended Doggles (Doggy sunglasses) for when she goes outdoors. Our dogs are like our children so I finally broke down and bought the doggles. Has anyone else used these or known someone who used them? I'm really afraid she'll pull them off as soon as I let her out.

Doggles! Oh man, I love that name grin
I'm a crazy cat lady, so no experience with them, but wondered if you can try them in the house for awhile so she can get used to them.
How do they attach? Is there a strap that will go all the way around her head?
I hope that she'll tolerate them--at least just for a little bit when nature calls.
Let us know how it goes, ok?

Yeah, there appear to be two straps (I mail ordered them). She loves to be outside all the time so hopefully these will work. I'll let you know.

Lisa, I'm with Rebecca. I would try to get her acclimated first inside the house, or maybe with you by her in the yard. I have no experience with doggles, but they sound really cool. I don't know many dogs who tolerate an adjustment to the 'norm' and I would worry she would get them off and eat them. So I would train her from the very beginning not to take them off. It seems that if she knew that it was a 'no' she might not keep trying to take them off.

Maybe the doggles come with instructions for training?

Ok, I am not poking fun but have you thought of getting him one of those aviator caps that would velcro under his neck? Then add a scarf and he could be like a real life Snoopy or something. Maybe throw in a dog house. Ooh and a little yellow bird.

The Doggles arrived. They're pretty cool little goggles with straps that will hold them on pretty well (provided the dog isn't proficient at ripping things off). They are silver & black with a skull & crossbones on the side (yeah, pretty funny).

I put them on her and my 3-year-old son explains it best:

"Mama, Freya is a superhero! I have to go put on my cape so we can be superheros together!"

It was pretty darned cute for about 5 minutes and then Freya decided she wanted to be just plain Freya.
