Throw a Thankful Party

Does your family have a good deal to be thankful for? Have you recently realized just how grateful you are for the health and well being of those around you? If you are full of thanks and just don’t know what to do with all the powerful emotions, throw a thankful party!
Throwing a thankful party with your family is the perfect way to reflect, share and celebrate all that you are thankful for. Adults will appreciate the time to think about their gratitudes and children will realize that it is important to count one’s blessings and celebrate them. Involve the whole family in the planning of your party and enjoy each other as you celebrate. Here are some party ideas to get you started:
Who’s Thankful for What Guessing Game – In this game, each member of the family will be asked to think of one thing that they are thankful for. Prior to the party, collect their answers and write them on a large piece of poster board. Do not write names under the answers or let anyone know who said what. When it is time for the party, gather everyone around and take turns guessing who is thankful for what. Whoever guesses the most correctly wins a prize.

Share Your Good Fortune – Ask each member of the family to bring an item to the party that will be donated to those less fortunate. Food, clothing, toys and books are all great ideas. After the party you can discuss who may be in need of each item and work together to deliver them.
Spread Thanks – Set up a thank you card making station full of paper, stickers, scissors, glue and other craft items. Ask each family member to create a card or two to thank someone in their life that they are grateful for.
Share a Great Meal – Let each family member choose one favorite dish for this special meal. As you get ready to eat, talk about what you are thankful for and how you can use your position to help others.
