Little League Tailgate

Families with hectic, overfilled schedules may have difficulty finding quality time to spend together. The perfect solution is to combine family time together with one of the family’s activities. A little league tailgate is a great way to provide your family with the bonding time they all need while still attending to your commitments.
Any child’s sporting event can be the setting for a family tailgate. Soccer practice after school, pop warner football practice on a weekend morning or an important game one evening during the week can all provide opportunities to bring your family together. You all would be at the game or practice anyway, so instead of stressing over what to feed your crew, you can come prepared and make a fun event out of your time together. Plan to have your meal either right before or right after your child’s event so you can all eat together.

Pack your car with these essentials for a great family tailgate:
Seating: blankets, folding chairs and cushions are all great ideas for seating. A simple blanket spread on the grass next to the field will allow you to sit and enjoy watching your child as well as eat your meal once you are all together.
Food and Drinks: pack items that are easy to hold, uncomplicated and enjoyed by the whole family. Dishes such as salads and pastas can be packed in individual serving containers to make your tailgate (and the cleanup) even easier. Sandwiches, kabobs, fruit, cupcakes and cookies are all great ideas because they are easy to transport as well as easy to hold.
Serving and Clean Up: pack any utensils that are necessary for your meal as well as towels and an extra bottle of water to wash off sticky hands. Be sure to clean up after yourself after you enjoy your tailgate together.
