Rainy Day Family Reunion Games

A rainy day during a family reunion can actually be a blessing in disguise. With everyone staying indoors and under one roof, there will be more opportunities for conversations and for distant relatives to get to know one another better, all while playing fun games together!

Simple group games such as Charades are great for all ages. Divide into two teams and have fun acting out your favorite movie, book or television show. Reunion guests could also get together to play games such as Name That Tune, where each person sings a verse of a song and the audience must guess the title.

Board games are a wonderful way to spend a rainy day. Select different varieties that will be suitable for a wide range of ages. Classics like Scrabble and card games like Go Fish can be a great opportunity for older relatives to teach their younger family members how to play.

With a house full of people on a rainy day, the children of the group are bound to get antsy cooped up indoors. Play active games indoors such as Hide and Seek and Simon Says to get everyone moving and playing together. Duck Duck Goose is always a hit; if you have a very large group consider breaking into multiple circles of ducks so everyone will enjoy the game and get a turn to do the ducking.

Just because it is raining doesn’t mean you have to be stuck indoors! If there are young children in the group, they will tell the adults just how much fun going on a puddle hunt can be. As long as there is no lightning near by, put on your boots and go out for a walk. Enjoy getting all wet and splashing around as the whole family goes puddle jumping!
