Button Wreath Ornament

Have left over buttons hanging around the house or do you have a large jar of buttons like I do? I have an easy craft for you to use up some of those buttons! A ornament made out of buttons will not only use up some of those buttons you have lying around but also will make a nice addition to your Christmas tree.

In order to make this project you will need a circle stencil, heavy cardboard, buttons in assorted sizes and colors, strong glue such as E-6000, and ribbon.

Using the circle stencils cut a circle out of the cardboard. You may need to use a craft knife to cut out the circle. Now, cut out a second smaller circle so that you now have an area to glue the buttons on with a big hole in the middle. It will basically look like a wreath form.

Now, you’ll want to begin gluing your buttons on the cardboard. It would be nice to use buttons in complementary colors like different shades of red and green or different shades of blue. Vary the buttons in size to add some dimension to your ornament. Continue gluing the buttons all around your cardboard circle overlapping them as you see fit.
Once your finished, let your project dry completely and then tie a piece of ribbon and loop it through the top of your ornament to create a loop so that you will be able to hang the ornament on your Christmas tree.

Additionally you could embellish the ornament more if you like. If you make an ornament using different shades of blue buttons, glue on some little silver snowflakes in various places on the ornament. Or if you make an ornament in various shades of red and green, make a bow out of plaid ribbon and glue a little sprig of holly in the middle and glue that to your ornament.

Get creative and have fun with it!
